Farms for City Children is a UK-based charity which helps kids from disadvantaged and inner city communities to experience working together on farms in the heart of the British countryside.
The children are immersed in a totally new world, far away from their everyday life. A world with animals and agriculture, fresh air, real food and plenty of mud. It provides a significant difference to their outlook and is a profound experience that they will never forget.
Through our charitable giving, Croxsons worked with Farms for City Children to support over 40 Ukrainian refugees in travelling to and staying at Nethercott House in Devon, for an amazing, farming adventure.
These family groups had fled their war-torn country and abandoned their lives – often in the countryside – to come to somewhat challenging conditions in London.
We were delighted to be able to provide a therapeutic outdoor experience with beautiful animals that they were able to meet and tend to, long countryside walks, delicious meals prepared by fabulous chefs, and above all, a safe and caring environment.
This small act, in some way, helped each of the families forget about their worries for a few days and reconnect with nature. One of the children wrote a lovely comment to us, “We were instantly transported to a simpler, more tranquil time as soon as we walked through the door. It felt like being back in my grandmother’s house, back in our village.”
